Meet the Team

Brenda has been working as Teacher in various programs and has now been working for several years with our pre-K and Kindergarten-Grade 1 classes. She joined us beginning of 2020, where she was the Butterfly Lead teacher and Co-Teacher to our Dragonfly Lead Teacher Johanna, for a full cycle, prior to moving to our Owls Class with her graduating learners.

She is a natural born teacher to our youth, who trust and love her, and enjoys our unique outdoor and nature-focused setting. She is also an art lover and poet and absolutely loves planning creek explorations and art focused empowerment lessons for our children. Being a native Spanish speaker, originally from Mexico, she loves teaching meaningful cultural experiences and authentic food lessons, with a passion to co-create the Reggio way. Being naturally calm and grounded, our children trust her to lead whole conversations around social emotional intelligence.

Brenda comes to us with a degree in Social Work and expansive training in childhood education, and currently also supports the ASSE International Student Exchange Program locally, where she hosts and supports a group of foreign students every semester. Previous professional experiences included supporting non-profit and educational programs locally and working with youth as Youth Development / Marketing Director at one of the largest Community and Outreach Centers in Texas.

Here at Wholesome Generation, she leads bi-lingual activities in her native language, and is very connected to our art, science- and outdoor nature programs, as well as our early literacy components and model. Being a poet and devoted reader herself, she supports our book club and book fair events and fosters children’s love for literacy and early reading. In our Owls class, she leads with Roxy, who has 28 years of experience leading and running early childhood and K-1 programs, and offering her love to all our Owls.

When not working at WG, Brenda is found reading, or in nature, or traveling her home country (Mexico) to reconnecting with her family and community.
